Sara had decided to have her bridals taken at the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro. From Wendover Avenue, I noted how beautiful and grand the venue was and when I first stepped inside I had to take several deep breaths to keep my excitement in check. The Proximity is beautiful – a photographer’s paradise!

Their wedding took place in Raleigh, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church. Such a beautiful venue – and the lighting was amazing!

Lori was probably the “smiliest” bride I’ve ever seen! She was just that excited to be marrying Travis!

After the wedding party portraits, the bride and groom were making their way back up the aisle when I snapped this candid shot (on the right).

Travis and Lori had opted for an outdoor wedding reception at nearby Anderson Point Park.

Lori wanted to get a few shots of her playing football in her wedding dress! Love it!

The first dance is always one of my favorite parts of the evening. The lighting over the dance floor was beautiful and you can see how happy the newlyweds are.

Matt’s band provided the entertainment for the evening.

We started out on the bridge where they planned for the ceremony to take place, and ended with a few shots in downtown Greensboro. Taunee has to be one of the sweetest brides I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and the wedding was one I won’t soon forget!

I love when my brides plan ahead! Taunee came armed with some creative ideas about incorporating color in her photos – including this orange parasol!

Look at the yellow shoes! Taunee told us how she found this pair on Ebay when she didn’t like anything she saw in local shops. I think a bride’s shoes say a lot about her personality and I simply love these!

Saving the best for last ;) My favorite two shots of the day!

Tracey & Kenny are actually from Fredericksburg, VA, but planned for the wedding to take place at the Gateway Convention Center in Rocky Mount, NC. We decided to do their engagement session in downtown Durham, as it had exactly the urban/grunge look we were going for.  We were able to utilize some great spots, and I was delighted with the colors in these images!

Light teal isn’t a color I get to work with often, and I was delighted with how it came out – I have to say this has to be one of my favorite images of the day!

It was a very windy day, and although wind can be hard to work with, Matt and Jessica didn’t let it phase them. :-)

They are such a fun-loving couple, and it shows!

American playwright, August Wilson, once said, “All you need in the world is love and laughter. That’s all anybody needs. To have love in one hand and laughter in the other.”

I happen to think he was right.

Even though it was not a particularly cold day, I thought the blanket was an ingenius idea after we had to twice reschedule the session because of rain and snow!

We got a few individual shots as well. Jessica looks gorgeous here – and I was surprised to learn that Matt is a musician as well! (In fact, his band performed at the wedding!)

We managed to sneak in a couple of shots with the couple’s greyhound, Mitchell.

This past winter was the hardest I’d experienced in North Carolina – I hadn’t seen that much snow since I moved down here from Maine in 2002.

We have some beautiful purple flowers growing over the fence in our backyard. I won’t pretend to know a lot about flowers in general, but I believe this a wisteria vine. They have a beautiful lingering scent that saturated our yard in fragrance.

I took the image above, as well as the one below, several days ago just before sunset.

The image below was taken this morning, and I was saddened to see that most of the blossoms have now gone by.

I love the way the light touches the leaves and petals here. Although I’m typically not a “flower photographer” I really had fun capturing these images.

Spring is finally here, with summer just around the corner! What can I say? I am ready!
